Find answers to frequently asked questions about the UK’s mandatory Identity Verification (IDV) services.

Identity verification is now a mandatory legal requirement for all new and existing company directors, People with Significant Control (PSCs), and anyone filing documents on behalf of a company.

Yes. Our authorized ACSP service is specifically designed for non-UK residents. We can verify international directors remotely using biometric technology, so you do not need to visit the UK or have a UK credit history.

The most efficient way to verify is with a biometric passport from any country. Other accepted documents include a UK photo driving licence, biometric residence permit (BRP), or Frontier Worker permit.

The initial biometric check usually takes only a few minutes to complete. Once submitted through our ACSP portal, official confirmation from Companies House is typically processed within 24 to 48 hours.

Once your identity is successfully verified, you will be issued a unique 11-character personal code. This code links your verified identity to your various company roles and must be used for future filings, such as confirmation statements.

Failure to comply is a criminal offense and can lead to serious consequences, including fines of up to £10,000, disqualification as a director, or your company being struck off the register.
